“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV

If it hasn’t happened for you and your family yet, it is coming. . . the beginning of SUMMER!

Ahhhhhhh, even though there is plenty of “real live” year-round, the break from the school routine can be very welcome!  I know it is in my house!

Sunday school, however, continues throughout the Summer.  This could be a great time to start a new routine. . . talking about Sunday school during the week.  The purpose of sending these thoughts is to bring you up to date on what your children are studying.  Maybe you could read the passage from last Sunday as a review.  Maybe you could read next week’s passage in preparation.  Whatever you do, you are exposing them to God’s Word, and that is always a good thing!

This Week in Sunday School. . .

2/3s- Jesus and the Children

Scripture- Mark 10:13-18

Lesson Truth- Jesus loves children.

Aims for the Children- to do at least one of the following during this lesson:

1.     Tell how Jesus showed his love for children

2.     Answer the question: Does Jesus love you?

3.     Tell other children about Jesus’ love

4s-K, 1st2nd, 3rd-5th- God is Glorified by Protecting Judah

Scripture- 2 Kings 18-19

Principle- God always will glorify His name.

Ask Your Child- How did god answer Hezekiah’s prayer?

Apply- By repenting of not glorifying God in actions and words.

This Week- As a family, read 2 Kings 18-19

Next Week- 2 Kings 21:1-18; 24:1-25:30

Children’s Church- God Frees Peter from Prison

Scripture- Acts 12:1-24

Lesson Goal- The child will understand that the sovereign God blesses his servants but punishes his enemies.

Bible Truths-

1.     Herod was persecuting the apostles.

2.     God freed Peter from prison.

3.     The believers were praying for Peter.

4.     Herod did not give God glory so God killed him.

Key Verse- “And when Peter had come to himself, he said, ‘Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent his angel and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people.” Acts 12:11
