The Rules of the Game

Parent’s Corner- September 18, 2022

This is love for God: to obey His commands.  And his commands are not burdensome.

1 John 5:3

When was the last time you unboxed a new board game?  When this happens in my family, there are many different perspectives!  One person always wants to set up the board and examine all of the pieces before anything else.  One person is always most excited to jump right in and just “start playing already!” And there is always one person who consults the rules of the game in every detail before he agrees to play.

Games are more fun when everyone follows the rules.  We joke that one of our kids extended the “four year old” rules of Monopoly a little too long, taking advantage of his youth and exasperating others in the process.

God is so good to give us the standards and guidelines for life in the Bible.  Obeying Him is always in our very best interest!
