Episode 1: The Problem of Evil

For my first communication to you on evangelism and apologetics, I thought it would be good to share with you what Jesus has to say about the Problem of Evil.

Much has happened in the last month that will likely prompt the people you talk with to question God. (School shootings, numerous murders and violent crime in Chicago and other cities, high profile assassinations, disastrous earthquakes that kill many, and of course the ongoing wars)
You will likely hear, "How could God allow these bad things to happen to good people?" or more personally "Why does God allow bad things to happen to me?" In fact, this was one of the first conversations our recent graduate, Aaron Clark, had with his college roommate.

Obviously you will need to communicate tenderly, acknowledging the reality of suffering and its hardships, but in order to be truly loving, you must tell them the truth. Here's a great article on what Jesus says about this.

I encourage you to get comfortable communicating these things before you have the conversations because these ideas run counter to the cultural worldview. (more to come on that.)
