Episode 2: The Reliability of the Bible

Welcome to Episode 2!

I was asked to comment on and provide some resources for the reliability of the scriptures.
(If you have something of interest, please let me know.)

Lots of different claims can be made that challenge the reliability of the Bible and if the Bible can be trusted. Therefore it’s important to use the Tactics and ask informational questions to be sure you know what he/she is thinking. (What do you mean by that?)

There is a lot of available information under each of these headings (books and books of resources), so I’m going to just provide a few options for each. If you want more, come find me.

Written by men

The claim is that humans make mistakes. How can we trust the Bible if humans wrote it?

Translations and the telephone game

The claim is that the transmission of the Bible was done through different languages and therefore the meaning and intent of the original has been lost. This is a mistaken understanding of how different translations are made. Also, we acknowledge that languages change - King James English from 400 years ago is different than modern English. So translations need to be updated over time.

Errors in the Bible. (Variants)

Some claim there are over 400,000 variants of the New Testament manuscripts. That’s more than the number of words in the New Testament, therefore it’s completely corrupt and untrustworthy.

Gospels are myth.

They were written long after the events and its  legend. It’s all made up.

And there are more things that people come up with to not trust the Bible. Rest assured, there are ways to think through them to the truth.

I'm praying for Gospel fruit. Happy Gardening!

Uncle Doug
